“Wisha – Woulda – Coulda”

Lots of people are trapped in the past because of thoughts or decisions they “wished” or “could have” made.  Lives are at a standstill or at the very least unhappy because they are haunted by the infamous “If only”.   If only, I had gone to college, stayed in school, hadn’t hung out with certain people, hadn’t went to that concert, or “If only” I hadn’t started vaping, smoking, drinking alcohol, or taking drugs, I wouldn’t be in the mess I’m in today.  How many are struggling today because they “wished” they had listened to their parents or another giving wise counsel?

Many reading these lines can look back remembering some “If only I had done _________  my life would be different.”   Joy, happiness and satisfaction has been stolen because of “what could-a or might-a been or wishing for something else.”   Your past can be stumbling blocks that cause you to fall into the pit of self-pity or those experiences can be stepping stones that propel you to heights never dreamed.  You didn’t have a choice of being born into this world, but you do have a choice of how to live your life.  Love is a choice.  Working is a choice.  Getting an education is a choice.  Doing your best is a choice.  Selection of good friends is a choice.  Seeking God and allowing Him to guide your life is a choice.  If you are mired in the doldrums of past decisions, today is the day to rise, pick up your mat and walk.  Get rid of every temptation to remain in your present temptation.  Stop looking backward and look upward.  There you’ll see a loving Heavenly Father with open arms ready to love, inspire, encourage, forgive and set you on a new path.

Isaiah says of the Lord, “I will go before you and will level every mountain; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron” (45:2).  In chapter 40:4 he adds, “Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places plain.”  In other words, there isn’t anything God can’t do.  If He can level a mountain or raise a valley, He certainly can step in and help you with whatever you need.  Some of you are thinking, “If only” I had stayed in church or “I should have” become a Christian years ago, but didn’t.  This is a new day and God is ready and available for you.  All He needs is a receptive heart.  Call out to Him today – He will answer!
