“What Would Jesus Do?”

Remember the  WWJD bracelets that were popular a few years back?  They were excellent spiritual conversation starters and a great evangelistic tool.  I always thought they were personal reminders of how to think, speak and act on a daily basis.  Have you ever wondered what Jesus would be thinking, saying and doing if He were walking this earth today?  It seems people have to be “Politically Correct” when speaking or doing anything out of fear of hurting someone’s feelings.  I don’t know about you, but I guess I’m just not aware of every little thing that might offend another person.  I honestly believe I can say, “I’d NEVER do anything intentionally to offend ANYONE.”

So, here’s the question again?  “What Would Jesus Do” if He were here today?  Here are my thoughts.  He wouldn’t change His thoughts, feelings or approach to anyone or anything today from what He did when He walked this earth over 2,000 years ago.  Right is right – Wrong is wrong!  Right is honorable – Wrong is SINFUL no matter what degree anyone thinks the wrong is.  We must understand, we cannot control another person’s actions no matter how hard we try.  BUT – AS CHRISTIANS – WE ARE EXPECTED TO LIVE TO A HIGHER STANDARD.  This doesn’t mean we are better than anyone else, but it does mean we have the Spirit of Christ in us and we are the only Jesus many people will ever see.  Therefore – we must stay close to the Lord, read His Word regularly and pray fervently so we can represent Him adequately.

There’s so much to say on this topic, but Jesus would respond to cultural and racial (by some) division of our day just as He did when He was here.  To Him there was no division in the true body of Christ.  There is no separation of the affluent and non-affluent; the educated or non-educated; this color skin or that color; this language or that language.  Paul said in Galatians 3:28: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male or female; for YOU ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS.”  And I Peter 2:9 tells us how and why it’s possible for the Christian to treat EVERYONE equally – “But you are a chosen race, (get that – we’re a new race – we may look differently on the outside, but we’re the same on the inside), a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”  If you are a Christian, you are a little Christ.  You are Jesus in this mixed up world, and you were destined for such a time as this.  If you truly are one of Christ’s followers you “Will Do (think, say and act) What Jesus Would Do” if He were here today.
