God did not promise life would be easy, but He did promise to go with us every step of our journey. Some people only have to look in a mirror to see a person physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually drained. It’s not that they’ve been doing things wrong, they may be doing everything right. But the burdens we sometimes have to carry become heavier each day they are carried. These burdens will differ for different people, but may include a severe illness for an individual or a loved one. They are afraid with every simple twinge of pain wondering what it might lead too. Someone may be discouraged because of finances and their job isn’t going well. A child is getting involved with bad company or is making unwise choices. You’re worried they will reach a place of no return.
As mentioned, the things weighing down one person will be different from someone else. There is a common thread however and that is when things are prolonged a person becomes tired and weary. If you could have a heart to heart with God, what would you ask Him? What could He possibly do that would bring you peace? Are you lonely, frustrated, angry, perplexed, unsure of what to do, worried about something that is difficult in your life, but you don’t know what do about it? If you need direction, James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, ask of God.” This indicates God is available to help you decide what is the best course of action.
Seeking direction is one thing. But what do we do with a worn out body and a worn out soul? If this is you (or forward it to someone that needs to hear this), I’d like for you to spend time reading and meditating on the following verses. Break them down into short phrases and let the power of God’s Word speak to you. I promise you, whatever your need – HE has the answer. And, if you follow the advice of these scripture verses, you will find rest and peace.
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the EVERLASTING God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does NOT FAINT or GROW WEARY; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives POWER to the faint, and to him who has no might HE INCREASES STRENGTH. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted” (Isaiah 40:28-30 ESV).
I believe the Lord is telling us, there will be times we are all tired and weary. We can get rejuvenated by seeking and leaning upon the Savior because He never tires. He will give strength to the weary and power to those ready to quit. Read the verses a few more times – slowly and let the Word of God penetrate deep into your heart.
