“Time To Wake Up”

I’m not a botanist by any stretch of the imagination, but I do love flowers.  My favorite is the rose and little did I know one day I’d have 18 knockout rose bushes in my yard.  They are reasonably safe with me taking care of them as nothing seems to hurt them.  When they are in full bloom they are absolutely beautiful – BUT – no one told me when the blossom dies they need to be dead headed.  Oh my!!

Years ago Chris planted some moss roses in front of our first church.  They were extremely intriguing to me.  The moss rose is like a few other species that close their blossoms at night and open them in the morning (daylight).  Hardly a day would go by that I didn’t look at those flowers.  It reminded me of life.  It didn’t matter whether life was great or difficult and filled with threatening storms.  Somehow you managed to get through the day.  If you could just lay down and close your eyes for a few hours, you knew a new day was coming.  Waking up there was a renewed strength to face not just the challenges, but the opportunities this new day would bring.  As you read these lines, your new day has begun.  Yesterday is gone forever.  Take what you learned from it and apply toward today.  Thank the Lord for the night’s rest and peace He has given you along with the promise “He’ll never leave you”.  This means whatever you face, He’ll be right there with you.  You’ll never be alone!!   So open your eyes and look for God’s blessings.  Decide now that you’ll walk with God in the sunshine of His love. This day is a gift.  Once it’s gone, it will be gone forever.  Open your eyes, put a smile on your face and enjoy the presence of God and His creation.  Lamentations 3:23 tells us, “God’s mercies are renewed every morning, great is His faithfulness.”

There’s an old chorus that might apply:

“My mommy told me something, a little girl (boy) should know,  it’s all about the Devil and I’ve learned to hate him so.  She says he causes trouble, when you let him in the room – he will never ever leave you if your heart is filled with gloom

So let the sunshine in, face it with a grin, smilers never lose and frowners never win, So let the sunshine in, face it with a grin – Open up your heart and let the sunshine  in.”  This is a recipe to having a nice day!!
