“The Mustard Seed”
God said, “if you have faith the size of a mustard seed you can move a mountain” (Matt. 17:20; Lk 17:6). In the devotional you received yesterday I said it is my belief God honors whatever amount of faith an individual has. The Bible informs us Jesus one day made reference to “the faith of a child.” For the Christian, faith means a person believes in God and that He will do everything He promised. But some people seem to have a stronger faith than others. Do they have special privileges?
God is a just God. The Bible says He is, “No respecter of persons” (Acts 10:34). This simply means God does not show favoritism or partiality to anyone. He treats every person the same. With this in mind, I also believe He honors whatever amount of faith a person has. If you are struggling with your faith and feel it is small, weak or inferior then you are a candidate to learn about the mustard seed.
According to Lee Strobel, a mustard seed is 39/1000th of an inch across, but produces a fast-growing plant that can reach 12 feet in one season. God’s promise is that Christ’s faith operating in you is as vital as that mustard plant. It shoves aside doubts, difficulties, obstacles and barriers to the accomplishment of the will of God in our lives. A tall plant reaches great heights because a tiny seed was planted. Its growth is a process over time. Every day you are planting a seed of faith in God’s Word and His trustworthiness. A growing faith is a process. Every time God answers a prayer or meets a need, your faith becomes stronger. Be diligent in your faithfulness to God and He will be faithful to you by rewarding your faith. God has promised to provide all our needs according to Christ Jesus. As you walk with the Lord, trust Him moment by moment and day by day, not only enjoying His presence, but experiencing a growing faith within.
