“The Concept of Trust”

The dictionary defines the word “trust” as a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength in someone or something.  A question we must answer is, “In whom or what do we trust?”  This is important because how you answer that question will determine where you will be 50, 100 or a thousand years from today.  Many people feel the only person they can trust is themselves, their resources or maybe even the government.  But, the next question is, “What does one do when they or all the money (and government) they have cannot do anything to help them through a crisis?”  Trials and hardships quickly show how weak and helpless we really are.

There is One however who has promised to supply our every need.  We must make a choice whether our life and future is placed in God’s hands or determined by what we think or do.  Solomon, the wisest person who ever lived said, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).

The Christian life is walk of faith.  There will things we understand and some that make no sense at all.  As we read the Bible however, we discover God always was and always will be.  He is from everlasting to everlasting.  He is all powerful and wherever we go, He is already there (read Psalm 139).  So, who do you trust?  Who is more reliable, trustworthy, or stronger than Him?  You must make that decision.  I made it years ago and my life was changed!  I learned I can trust Him with everything that has happened in my past ( forgiveness of sins – Isaiah 43:25).  I can trust with my present (He gives me my daily bread – Matthew 6:11) and I can trust Him with my future (I will go before thee and make the crooked places straight – Isaiah 45:2).  Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.  His faithfulness is everlasting.  He and He alone is our Rock, Fortress and Help in time of need.  He is reliable and stronger than any adversary – in Him you can put your trust!  If you haven’t, I encourage you to do so today.  You’ll never regret it.  In fact, it’ll be the most important decision you will make in your lifetime!!
