“Staying Healthy”:

A strong body is a healthy body.  We know a healthy body comes from eating right, exercising, and doing right things.  A healthy mind stays sharp when we feed it the right things and it becomes cloudy and sometimes dysfunctional when filled with bad things.  The way to keep  our body, mind and spirit stay on a healthy track is a disciplined spiritual life.  Today you’ll find three things every one of us can do when seeking to handle sin in our lives and to be obedient to the principles of God.  The Psalmist wrote, “Also, keep back thy servant from presumptuous sins; Let them not rule over me; Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be acquitted of great transgression” (19:13).

 

When dealing with sin (or temptation to sin) is you must STARVE it out.  Don’t feed it with what you read, what you see, or where you go.  This also includes being very, very selective with who you hang out with and call friends.  Anyone that encourages or approves of you doing something which could harm yourself or others IS NOT YOUR FRIEND.  Drop them!

 

The second thing is you CUT IT OUT!  When weeds grow in your garden you pull or cut them out.  They don’t belong there and destroy the beauty of the garden.  Allowing sin to grow in your life will eventually destroy the beauty and quality of your life. God created you for so much better.  You are a “designers” model.  There’s no one like you in all the world and God has a special purpose just for you.  He loves you with an everlasting love and will not only forgive you of ALL your sins but will CLEANSE YOU and give you a new start in life.  When keeping Him first, He’ll show you every little sin sprout trying to develop and will give you the power and strength to cut it out immediately.  (Don’t give the devil a foothold – Eph. 4:27).

 

The third step in handling sin and being obedient to God is you CROWD THE SIN OUT!  How does one do this?  It was mentioned earlier but will be emphasized here.  You fill your life with good people, good things, wholesome activities, and good thoughts.  Read God’s Word and memorize meaningful and helpful verses (consider God’s promises to you).  To summarize things – YOU STARVE IT OUT, CUT IT OUT and CROWD IT OUT!!

 

If you do these things on a consistent basis, you’ll soon find your “oughts” and your “wants” will become the same.  You’ll soon experience the Holy Spirit operating in your life and conforming that you are growing in your relationship with your Heavenly Father.  Jesus asked the paralytic in John 5:6, “Do you WANT TO GET WELL?”  God desires each of His children to be well spiritually, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  He is present and ready to help you every moment of every day.  It’s THROUGH HIM (not by yourself) you can and will stay healthy!
