“God Can’t Give Up”

How many people have you written off in your lifetime?  I mean those individuals that really hurt you to the core?  You were taken advantage of or betrayed beyond measure.  The mere thought of that person(s) or company unsets you even today.  When you share your story with others, it’s easy to not only get an audience, but support from the majority.  The fact I’m even mentioning a past devastation caused by another person possibly is stirring anger within you right now.

My purpose is not to hurt or remind you of a pain suffered long ago.  I will say that if you are still hurting, “You’ve suffered enough – let it go.”  Your response will be, “That’s easy for you to say, but if you only knew …”.  Yeah, I got it, but I’m not the only one to tell you that hanging onto a grudge is hurting you more than the one(s) that hurt you.  The Bible says to, “Forgive just as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:13).  Romans 3:23 reminds us that, “ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

What do you believe would happen if you focused more on God’s love and power in your life than someone that has hurt you?  What if you asked God to give you the ability to love your adversary?  What if you started praying for that individual on a daily basis and asked God to bless them in every way possible?  You see, you and I have sinned against God.  We hurt Him and He couldn’t have been pleased with our actions or attitude.  He even knows the intent of our heart which means that if we say “I’m sorry” He knows if it’s genuine.  The Psalmist said, “For great is His love toward us and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever” (117:2).  God NEVER gave up on you nor will He.  It’s impossible for Him to give up as that would go against His character.  It’s this God that has always been loving and faithful to you and now lives within you.  His power becomes your power giving you the ability to love and forgive.  Jesus wants you and me to be like Him.   God doesn’t ever give up on loving or forgiving – don’t you.
