“Focusing On Christmas”

We know the story.  God sent His only Son into the world and God became flesh.  Jesus is and will always be the Savior of anyone who repents of their sins.  In a couple different speaking engagements recently I asked the crowd to imagine living in the first century.  No electricity, no running water, no machinery to work the fields and no one had a cell phone.  Imagining such a life of all the “with outs”, I wonder how many of us would have survived.  Throughout time God has always managed to communicate with people however.  He spoke through the prophets of Old Testament times, through visions, dreams and on special occasions with an audible voice.

We are blessed beyond our own understanding.  We are spoiled by the conveniences of life and have the blessings of living in a truly great time in history.  Sometimes we must stop and remind ourselves that all good things come from God.  Your life, family, home, job, school, friends, opportunities, everything – ALL GOOD THINGS COME FROM GOD (James 1:17).  It’s fascinating to me, to think and imagine how people worshipped God centuries ago.  How did they view Him?  What was their concept of Him?  According to scripture, many had a faith that could not be shaken in a God they learned to love.  Their life is a testimony to the blessings of a Holy God who heard and answered prayer.  A God who met their every need and His blessings have carried over from generation to generation and now we enjoy those blessings.

John 14:7 says, “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”  When I say the word “God,” are you able to visualize Him in your mind?  Christmas is God focused!  In the fullness of time, in perfect harmony with prophecy, God touched the life of a young girl who had never slept with a man and that girl gave birth to the Christ child.  It was the very first Christmas when God entered the world and history in the flesh.  God sent Jesus so it would be possible for us to hear, see, and know God.  Focus on the birth of Jesus this Christmas Season and the holiness, majesty and love of God will become much more clear to you.
