“Faith Is Action”
Our focus this week has been on faith. Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” If you are reading these lines, I believe you have a desire to please God. There are non-Christian people trying to do good things, hoping that doing them will be pleasing in God’s sight. But faith is what pleases Him. Faith is not only present tense, it is also active. The Hebrew writer said one must have faith in order to please God, because if and when he comes to Him, that individual must believe that God exists.
The Bible says we are to “walk by faith, not sight.” As mentioned earlier this week, “Faith is being sure (confident) of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Heb. 11:1). Here’s what I know about faith. FAITH IS ONLY AS STRONG AS THE OBJECT IT IS PLACED IN. Read that statement again. Again. Think on those words for a while. Now – what do you know or have heard about that is not vulnerable? Humans are vulnerable. Things made with hands are vulnerable – even the things believed to be indestructible. The Titanic is a good example.
There is ONE and only ONE object that is neither vulnerable, nor indestructible. God!! Our Lord always was, always is and always will be. Everything in our world came from Him. He is omniscient (knows everything), omnipresent (is everywhere), omnipotent (all powerful) and immutable (cannot change). So, since I’ve encouraged you to not just read today, but to really engage your brain, why would a person not want to put their faith and entire trust and hope in God? Tomorrow we’ll see what the Bible says about the person that not only believes in God, but ACTS on what He says. It literally is a life changing experience.
