“Are You Ready To Be Used?”

The COVID-19 pandemic has put us in situations we never imagined.  Among other things, who would ever have thought they would see the Church doors to public worship closed?  We’ve all learned and most of us have said more than once, “The Church is not the building.  It’s the people!”.  That statement has now become a reality.  You and I as believers are vital instruments God wants to use to carry out His message of love, forgiveness, compassion, comfort, protection and provision.  Are you ready to be used of God to help carry this message?  Are you WILLING to be used?  If you are willing – YOU’RE READY!

Ezekiel 22:23-31 informs us that “God is seeking a man (both genders) to stand in the gap.”  In other words there is a hole that needs to be filled.  A responsibility that needs to be upheld.  Who will He use?  He will use anyone that’s willing to take a step of faith and say as Samuel did, “Here I am Lord – speak, your servant is listening” (I Samuel 3:3-10).  My prayer this week is for 3 or 4 individuals to contact me saying Pastor, “I’m willing” to contact people and start a ZOOM Bible Study or a prayer group.  This doesn’t have to be lengthy – 30 minutes or less until you are comfortable.  One person has already contacted me.  If you are nervous, let me know and I’ll help you get started.  I’m not only speaking to people of Marietta First Church of the Nazarene but EVERYONE that receives these devotionals.

In my lifetime, other than 9/11, I don’t remember when people are searching for God as much as they are today.  It doesn’t matter your church or denominational affiliation – it doesn’t matter what state or country you live in – God is looking, speaking and wanting to use those willing to be used.  It doesn’t matter how much or how little Bible knowledge you have – ARE YOU LISTENING TO THE LORD?  God speaks to people in many ways, but I think there are four primary ones: 1) Through the Word of God (Bible), 2) Through His Holy Spirit, 3) Through people (like this devotional(, 4) Through our circumstances.  The pandemic has created a common circumstance.  We are all in the same boat and EVERYONE needs a word of encouragement and a word of HOPE.  If you sense a tug in your heart to do something, whether you know me or not, contact me and lets put some action steps in place.  Don’t ignore the Spirit’s promptings.  God is about to make you a blessing to others and will bless you as well.  If God is speaking, He will give you the power to do what He is laying on your heart.
