“Faith For Today”

Sometimes we are so concerned about tomorrow that we run out of gas for today.  Worry brings physical, mental, emotional, relational and certainly spiritual exhaustion.  What will the doctor say tomorrow?  There’s going to be a big test at school and I don’t feel prepared.  That interview is so important and I just can’t blow it.  For many, it’s not unusual to get so wrapped up in “tomorrow’s” events that we give up on today.

What we must remember is that, faith is “PRESENT TENSE!”  The God you serve is the same God who spoke the world into existence.  He can still bring water out of a rock.  He can still part whatever waters need to be parted.  You may feel your life is moving in the wrong direction.  Things are happening you can’t understand and there’s no logical reason for these events.  Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me.”  I believe that verse is reminding us that God has a plan for your life and mine.  That’s His responsibility – ours is to trust Him!

As you walk through today, trust Him for the next 24 hours.  Do everything you need to do and complete the things you can complete.  What is beyond your capability, surrender it to Him and trust He’ll take care of the details.  It’s possible He may change YOUR agenda so He can complete His in your life.  He may move some people out of your life and bring others in.  You might not get the promotion or the loan for your new house.  What may appear as a setback very well could be God keeping from something that may harm you in the future or, He has something better for you.  Jesus said, “Don’t worry about tomorrow for each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34).  Ephesians tells us to “Put on the whole armor of God so we’re able to stand against any trouble that may come.”  God is on your side.  Trusting Him completely will make for a better tomorrow.
